Oat Milk
Homemade oat milk recipe with tips for a smooth, non-slimy texture.
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw oats
- 4 cups water (for blending)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon sunflower oil
- 1/8 teaspoon xanthan gum
- 1/8 teaspoon soy lecithin
Instructions
Soak Oats: Soak 1 cup of raw oats in water for 15-30 minutes. This softens the oats and reduces slimy texture.
Rinse Oats: Rinse the soaked oats thoroughly with fresh water.
Blend: Combine soaked oats with 4 cups fresh water. Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until smooth.
Strain: Pour through a nut milk bag, cheesecloth, or fine mesh strainer. Squeeze to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard or save the oat pulp.
Add Ingredients: Pour strained milk back into blender. Add vanilla, maple syrup, salt, sunflower oil, xanthan gum, and soy lecithin.
Blend Again: Blend on high for 20-30 seconds to incorporate all ingredients.
Store: Transfer to a sealed container and refrigerate. Shake well before each use as natural separation may occur.
