Goals

What you want out of life and your endeavors.

All about:

  1. time (the more you have, the more goals you can hit, and better)
  2. access
    • not being limited
      • understanding what's available (things you can do)
      • being able to get things
        • understanding how to get things
          • knowing how things work

Risk

What's going to stop or impede you from achieving your goals?

Ultimately, losing yourself and being stopped from specific activities that lead to goal success:

  1. being sick
    • stay healthy
    • have access to medicine
    • make sickness impossible
  2. dying
    • avoid deadly situations
    • be prepared for when you're in them
    • make death impossible
  3. losing the things you're attached to
    • minimize attachments
    • be there for your attachments
    • making losing things impossible
  4. being unprepared to overcome obstacles to specific activities that lead to goal success
    • be prepared
    • make being unprepared impossible

The fundamentals of de-risking

  1. Stay Healthy
  2. Have access to medicine
  3. Avoid deadly situations
  4. Be prepared for all deadly situations
  5. Minimize attachments
  6. Be there for your attachments
  7. Make sickness impossible
    • engineer super-medicine
  8. Make death impossible
    • engineer indefinitely life-extending therapies
  9. Making losing things impossible
    • make machine that can re-produce anything
  10. Make being unprepared impossible
    • can't. but create a time machine to go back and use new preparation in old situations
  11. Be prepared:
    1. understanding your options in any situation
    2. being able to act on your options
      • limited/enabled by:
        1. insurance
        2. finances
          • access to borrowed money (credit)
          • income (future assets)
          • assets (what you have)
          • debts (what you owe)
    3. plan for every possibility
      • for this, you need to understand every possibility

Doing it

Everything I do in life is about my goals, and all these notes are purposed around my goals.

What I need to achieve goals

Know my goals

  1. Enjoy myself / not be bothered

    • know what there is to enjoy
    • enjoy it
    • be prepared to stop anything that gets in the way
  2. Be amazed (though, not necessarily surprised)

    • life is amazing & this is part of living it
  3. Help others

Ideals for achieving goals

  • Have ideally unlimited time & access to everything
  • Have no risk whatsoever

Strategy

Refine my goals into a plan of action & schedule with to-do activities

  • I use "models" and "knowledge" of the world to gear my goals into actions

    • all of my life's understanding is structured into models with case studies/anecdotes/history
    • develop/discover models and knowledge where necessary
  • include activities that de-risk

  • repeat constantly

  • Understand the world

    • See it
    • Learn about it
