A Good Place
A meditation on stillness, breath, and the heart as a place where everything meets.
Stillness, silence, deepness of breath, steadiness of gaze beneath closed eyelids, a warm steadily beating heart, unclenched teeth, an unfurled brow, a closed window with cold air shaking the trees and their leaves outside, the aroma of Australian Sandalwood and Ecuadorean Palo Santo. A bright white moon, a beauty spot on the face of an even, blue, sunny sky. Ethereal music, deep hollow tones, the bellows of a gong, peppered with bells and chimes, the sound of rain falling, of water running, of a good idea forming, a fond memory recalled, a delightful connection discovered, and appreciated, somewhere in the mind.
An appropriate reminder to breath, deeply. Long and with reckless abandon for evenness or sustainability. A rush of oxygen, to pull thoughts from the halo to the mind, and from the mind to the body, and from the body evermore inward, to the core of being, where everything meets.
Radiance Sutra 26:
There is a place in the heart where everything meets. Go there if you want to find me. Mind, senses, soul, eternity, all are there. Are you there? Enter the bowl of vastness that is the heart. Give yourself to it with total abandon. Quiet ecstasy is there - and a steady, regal sense of resting in a perfect spot. Once you know the way the nature of attention will call you to return, again and again, and be saturated with knowing, "I belong here, I am at home here."
Hydration, solution, ions to carry fragments of the cosmos, which constitute a body that surrounds it, my body, and a single tear to release through them the friction of being, my being, and all that I feel and love.
